David Ortiz’s daughter thanked his fans in a social media post and said her father “hasn’t complained once” since he was shot in the Dominican Republic on Sunday.
“Those who have extended prayers, thoughts, and love, I thank you. If there is one thing this world should know it is the admiration I have for this man, my father,” she wrote.
“I find myself complaining on a daily basis yet chaos has struck but my dad hasn’t complained once,” she added.
“He may be hungry (he’s eating only ice right now) and he may be tired but you know what he said not more than 3 minutes ago? ‘Even the toothpaste tastes good here,’” the post continued.
Ortiz was shot in the back in an attempted hit job in the Dominican Republic, but survived the shooting and was flown to a Boston hospital.
Local authorities announced that by Thursday nine people are in custody over the shooting — including the accused gunman. Police allege the ringleader was paid $8,000 to arrange the attack but haven’t offered a motive.
